History

K9 received a distress call from Earth. She went to earth and began to explore. Upon finding a Puppy, she set out on a quest to rescue them all. Upon coming to a crater where a nuclear warhead had landed, she found a cave which house a door that opened with the help of a Turret. Entering, she found a bunker where there were other puppies. She encountered the first of many mechanical cat robots. Further exploration lead to a chemical producing factory that made mines and other substances, which soon lead down into the sewer.

One room in the sewer had a large open pipe which lead to a Hydroponic Lab, teaming with plants. She quickly discovered the entrance to the General's chamber, but couldn't enter it "until all biological threats had been neutralized". She set out to rescue all the lost puppies, and upon doing so opened the door to the general's chambers.

Upon going down the hallway to the chamber's, she encountered a small kitten, who insisted going with K9. K9 agreed to this, and sent her back to the Mutnik before fighting the General. The General - informing K9 of his resort to turning the puppies into canned food - battled K9 until he exploded from heavy eating. This event issued the launch of a nuclear warhead from a missile silo, which was to impact the planet very soon.

K9 backtracked to the Mutnik and escaped the planet before it was blown up. The explosion of the planet set the Mutnik off course, where it crash landed on planet that was a heavenly, puppy paradise.

K9 backtracked to the Mutnik and left the planet. The Kitten watched the Mutnik was it was leaving, and very quietly, emanated another distress signal.

Game information

K9 is armed with a cannon and suit. K9's suit allow it to jump high and withstand long drops. However, it seems to not protect against damage, as contact with any hazardous object instantly kills K9. K9's cannon can fire a bullet that (if it hits an objects that can be moved) on impact with a movable object swaps K9's and the object's place, placing K9 where the object is and the object where K9 was previously. This is what K9 uses for traversal of the planet.

Several techniques can be used with the bullet, such as jumping right before it hits an object, as this jump will leave it in a jumping state when it swaps with the object (K9 still maintaining its momentum). Another technique (unofficially called shuffling) allows for K9 to go through several objects in a horizontal line by quickly firing its bullet into a horizontal line of objects, giving the impression K9 is moving through them.

K9 has a ship called the Mutnik which it uses for leaving the planet, and also for traversal of the large and spacious galaxy it is in.

Trivia

  • K9 is obviously based off Samus Aran from the Metroid series of games, as Samus is commonly depicted in the orange suit called the Varia Suit (which K9 is wearing an imitation of). Also, both Samus and K9 are female and have similar shaped cannons. Both also own a ship that resembles their face.
